BGS JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
Ink Lab Technician: Develops color formulas and mixes screen printing ink, adhesives, and varnishes for production according to established company procedures and customer requirements. Mixes standard and matched color ink, sample ink batches, prints swatch, and performs color check per color specifications. Estimates quantity of ink to be mixed. Performs vendor quality check on incoming ink. Uses various color measurement instruments, maintains ink inventories, and records by performing duties personally or through assistant personnel.
Screen Lab Technician: Responsible for screen making including frame and fabric selection; screen stretching; stencil selection, application, exposure, and development; and screen storage. Also responsible for positioning image on screen according to job specifications, blocking out and taping screens, mixing emulsions, maintaining adequate screen making supplies, and performing general maintenance on screen making equipment by performing duties personally.
Screen Press Operator: Responsible for press set-up and troubleshooting department machinery and equipment. Sets up jobs and does pre-production print check to ensure proper machine set-up, registration, ink viscosity, color, and print quality in accordance with BGS and customer specifications. This is a team effort with shared responsibilities.
Inspector and Racker: Inspects printed items, removes, and stacks printed sheets from drying equipment, performs racking of wet printed materials for air drying and delivers printed material internally upon completion of production runs.
Shipping Clerk/Finished Goods: Prepares finished goods for shipment. Verifies completeness of shipment against shipping order. Packs shipment, affixes shipping labels, selects method of shipments, weights, and determines shipping charges and issues bill of lading. Maintains shipping records and helps load trucks, both manually and with the use of a forklift.
Cutter Operator: Responsible for cutting material and/or printed stock to specified size and shape on the powered guillotine cutter. Performs cutting operation to close tolerances, sets backstop, keeps cutter square, changes cutter blades and checks with a supervisor before completing a job.
Laminator: Responsible for operating and setting up a hot and/or cold seal laminator for over-laminating, encapsulation, or mounting of screen-printed or digital imaged products. Sets feed speed, pressure, and/or temperature for optimum production rates, trims pieces, and maintains quality by performing duties personally or through assistant personnel.
Inventory: Responsible for control of raw materials including receiving, storing, ordering, and issuing. Counts and compiles information on receipt or disbursement of material, equipment, merchandise, or supplies. Responsible for maintaining inventory control records and recommends disposition of defective or unusable items by performing duties personally.
Customer Service: Acts as liaison between customers, sales, and production departments. Keeps salespersons informed about job status and problems by maintaining daily updates of production schedules, noting any deviations. Handles phone inquiries for job statuses, estimates, and order changes. Coordinates the preparation of all written quotes and proposals.
Production Artist: Use of creative skills to prepare and arrange supplied artwork with appropriate computer software, artistic layouts, and color separations for production. Assist in prototype development while demonstrating ability to use both MAC and PC systems. Input customer files into BGS systems and ensures customer specifications and tolerances are adhered to.
Accounting: Bills customers by gathering necessary job information, calculating charges, and issuing invoices and statements. Gathers records such as purchase orders, sales tickets, and charge slips to compile needed data. Prepares invoices, listing items sold, amounts due, credit terms, and dates of shipment. Prepares credit memorandums to indicate returned or incorrectly billed merchandise and types credit forms for customers.Purchasing Agent: Compiles information, records, and quotations to prepare purchase orders for procurement of material, machinery, equipment, tools, parts, and services; maintains recommended inventory levels, and establishes replenishment needs by performing duties personally.
